The Lake Champlain – Lake George Regional Planning Board works diligently to lead economic and community growth through providing technical assistance to municipalities and small businesses. Our team monitors environmental and community development issues and advances strategies to improve assets and economic drivers in our region. Our communities, included in our Economic Development District, are across Clinton, Essex, Hamilton, Warren, and Washington counties in New York State.
Senior Planner Position Description: This position is responsible for the development and coordination of community-based projects and programs focusing on zoning and community development, transportation, housing, and main street reinvestment. The successful candidate must be able to author and manage federal and state grant programs and have strong writing, data analysis, communication, fiscal management, and computer skills. Must be able to work independently and cultivate and maintain working relationships with staff and various public and private partners. Work will include a significant amount of public engagement and consensus building. Meetings may occur after work hours on occasion.
Minimum Qualifications: Either, (A) Master’s Degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental studies, natural resources, or related field and two (2) years of satisfactory experience in municipal, community, or regional planning; or,
(B) Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental studies, natural resources, or related field and three (3) years of satisfactory experience in municipal, community, or regional planning.
